Vision
Accendo (Latin, verb): to illuminate, to inspire, to arouse
Since its founding by the Araujo family in 2013, Accendo Cellars has crafted classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, with aspirations to be recognized as one of the world's finest wines. As longtime vineyard partners and stewards of the land, we are honored to carry forward this legacy of distinction. Accendo Cellars is now Accendo Estate.
Nigel Kinsman remains in his role as winemaker, and our trucks will continue to deliver our harvest to Wheeler Farms, where the wines will once again be produced.
For those who have enjoyed the fruits of our labor over the years, we look forward to meeting you and deepening our understanding of what Accendo means to you. We are grateful for your support during this evolution and invite you to visit us. If you are new to Accendo, we welcome you to sign up and join us on this now grower-owned endeavor. If you’re already a member, simply sign in.

Napa Cabernet 2022: Vintage report and buyer’s guide
"97 Points. Immediately charming and approachable, offering early-drinking pleasure. Full-bodied and structured, packed with juicy red and black berry fruit, rich loamy earth and a dusty red mineral character, all framed by ripe, firm yet inviting tannins. Layers of leather, cedarwood and scorched herbs round out this delicious, complex expression. The blend includes 8% Cabernet Franc. Winemaker Nigel Kinsman describes the goal as expressing Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon through the lens of exceptional vineyard sites, while also allowing for experimentation with other varieties to craft a seamless, balanced wine year after year. Aged for 21 months in roughly 70% new French oak."
Araujo Family Sells Accendo Winery to Napa’s Bettinelli Family and Jack Bittner
Siblings Greg and Jaime Araujo have sold their family’s Accendo brand to a group formed by vintner Jack Bittner and the Bettinelli family. The sale includes the brand and current inventory, but no vineyards. The purchase price was not disclosed.
“Accendo has always been about the growers,” said Jaime Araujo, who will now focus on her Trois Noix brand and is also currently chairing the Napa Valley Vintners board. “For me it’s a logical progression for the brand to put it in the hands of the best growers in the valley. We’re all friends and Greg and I want to see them thrive with this.”
7 Stellar White Wines That Show Winter Isn’t Just for Reds
Accendo Cellars winemakers Françoise Peschon and Nigel Kinsman work with consulting winemaker Michel Rolland to make one of Napa Valley’s best and most coveted Sauvignon Blancs. We’ve tasted more than 10 vintages and are always impressed by the quality and consistency. Their most recent release available on the market is the 2022, but we’re eagerly awaiting the release of the 2023. The 2022 has aromas of freesia, freshly ground white pepper, and lemon curd. It has a hint of salinity on the mid palate with flavors of dried sage, green apple, and peach. Drink now or over the next five to seven years. This wine will age nicely.
